Therefore reducing the level of emissions found in your home allowing you a safer and cleaner space to live.

All of our plywood is made of 100% recycled content and qualifies for the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) credits MR 4.1 and MR 4.2 established by the U.S. Green Building Council. All of our plywood, particle board and MDF material is certified by the California Airborne Toxic Control (CARB) program for reduced formaldehyde emissions during the manufacturing process.

A select number of our wood products are also Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified in association with the Rainforest Alliance Group. A process which maintains sustainable forestry practices by eliminating the process of clear-cutting lumber. While promoting rainforest/forest diversity and integrity by ensuring the tree’s that are cut down are not only replanted but that only selected trees are cut down as well.

Building LEED? Excel Cabinets Inc Can Help!

In April 2007 the California Air Resource Board (CARB) passed the Airborne Toxic Control Measure in the effort to reduce formaldehyde emissions from composite wood products. As of January of 2009 we at Excel Cabinets, Inc. have worked in connection with our suppliers to bring in all of our wood with this certification to pass on to our clients.

We have also recently adapted the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) program. Established by the U.S. Green Building Council, this program was designed to make a positive impact on the environmental side of home building. From wood products to adhesive products Excel Cabinets, Inc. has maintained the suppliers necessary to create a line of cabinets which complies with several LEED credits mentioned below.

Including all of our particle board certified for MR 4.1 and MR 4.2 level credits. We also offer products that qualify for further LEED credits as well such as NAUF (no added urea formaldehyde) and FSC (forest certified lumbers) which are available upon request. In addition to our lumber products our adhesives comply with the requirements necessary for the EQ 4.1 LEED credit and our various stains are all formaldehyde free complying not only with the NAUF requirements but additional LEED credits as well.

All MDF insert panels on our doors as well as all back panels are made with 100% recycled content and are LEED MR 4.1 & 4.2 quality as well as CARB complaint.

Please note, only a small percentage of our lumber, which is used to make the box of the cabinets and the frame of the doors are currently FSC certified. This is due to the high number of mills our suppliers currently work with and what lumber they have readily available. Currently a stage two program of CARB is being rolled out where in the next 18 months all wood products will be changed out to FSC certified products.
